Let’s Talk Lavender!

Happy Sunday!

Today is a special day.  My husband turns 30! It has been a wonderful weekend spending time with friends and family, my heart is so full. This next chapter of our life will be the best one yet and I am beyond grateful! We have so much to look forward to in the next few months. I have some things in store for the business and our baby boy will be joining us, making our family a little more complete. So excited! It has been a crazy journey to say the least, but everything always works out the way its supposed to. Thank you universe!

Herb of the Week: Lavender

MMM...Lavender. This is such an incredible soothing and relaxing herb. It has the most amazing aroma, I am obsessed! I would say it is more well known for its aroma, than its medicinal properties. Native to France and the western Mediterranean, this herb is now cultivated world wide. The flowers are picked in the summer and are dried or distilled to produce the essential oil. The flowers can also be used for teas, infusions and baking. It adds a sweet floral taste to anything its added to! Lavender is not only delicious but its, antispasmodic, relieves anxiety, acts as an antidepressant, its neuroprotective and anti microbial. Use it to calm your nervous system and wind down your day as it has sedative properties to help induce sleepiness! Try out my ZEN AF Blend to really zen the F out. It’s such a nice way to end the day. You can also use lavender to soothe your digestive system when you have bloating, gas or indegestion. It may also help asthma symptoms where excessive nervousness is a feature since it helps you to relax. The essential oil is great for a first aid remedy as it is strongly antiseptic. It helps to heal wounds, burns, sores, insect stings, inflammation and can even be used to treat scabies and head lice. Yikes! Another great way to utilize the oil from lavender is to rub it on your temples if you’re suffering from a headache or add a few drops to your bath to relive muscle tension. So many options! If you wanted to get really crazy I highly suggest you chill out with a cup of my ZEN AF tea in a bath with lavender essential oils. Hello the best sleep of your life! Full Moon, Hibiscus, Weekly round up.

Full Moon April 26th!

Happy Sunday! Hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend so far. I’m so happy some warmer weather has made its way back to Colorado. I always feel so much happier and motivated with some sunshine on my skin! I was finally able to take my first in person yoga class this Saturday and man, it made me miss the studio! So much fun, thank you again Jenny White of Moonrise Self care and Lisa Reeder of Wild Souls yoga. They do yoga on the deck at Rails End Brewing Company every month. Be sure to check them out for next month. Such a treat. Anyways! This week is a big week! So much to look forward to. I have my 30 week prenatal appointment, my in laws and best friend come into town from California, my amazing husband turns 30, we have our baby shower and on top of that...there is a FULL PINK SUPER MOON!
This will be one of the brightest full moons of 2021. Though this moon won’t really look pink, it got its nickname because it represents all of the colorful flowers in the spring. This full moon lies in Scorpio and embraces change in your life. It signifies transformation and helps us to prioritize a sense of self-love and self-worth. Since this is all about change you might be at a cross-roads and make decisions about what brings you joy. That might also mean dropping the things that are not fulfilling your life in a positive way. This is a great time to honor YOUR truth and help you to identify the type of life you want to live in. Tapping into the transformation of Scorpio and the self-care aspect of Taurus, you may find yourself finding clarity and grounding into the powerful energy helping you manifest your best life. I love how powerful the moon can be. It really is magical if you’re able to tune it and pay attention to the energy it brings.

Herb of the Week: HIBISCUS

To honor the pink full moon, this week I wanted to talk a bit about Hibiscus. I absolutely love this herb. It is delicious, refreshing, cooling and beautiful. It is native to North Africa and Southeast Asia, but also grows in tropical climates across the globe. This flower is packed full of antioxidants, high in Vitamin C, helps with menstrual cramps, may help lower blood pressure, boosts liver health, aides in digestion, can reduce cholesterol levels, and can soothe sore or inflamed mucous membranes in both the digestive and respiratory tract. Seriously so many benefits! It adds a delicious refreshing touch to any tea or beverage. You can taste for yourself in my Sunshine Blend! With the summer coming up, a great way to utilize the cooling effects of hibiscus is to make popsicles! Steep a pot of the Sunshine blend, mix it with a touch of lemonade and throw in the freezer! Delicious!


This week I recorded my 2nd virtual vinyasa class for you guys to enjoy! The theme for this class fits perfectly with the full moon since its all about making you a priority. It’s so important to make yourself a priority each and every day. A few ways to think about doing this is to make time for yourself, speak kindly to yourself, love the skin you’re in, let go of things you can’t control, tell yourself you got this, surround yourself with people who uplift you, know that you are enough. A small step i have been integrating into my daily routine is to journal.  I am on day 9 so far and I can honestly say it has made a difference in my week. Start small, it doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Just something you can easily add to your day to take care of yourself in whatever way that resonates with you! Ayurveda, Herbs, Yoga & More!

What in the World is Ayurveda?!

Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic whole body healing systems. It was developed thousands of years ago in India and literally translates into the knowledge of life.  Ayur—> Life and Veda—> Knowledge. There is so much information and depths into Ayurvedic teachings and principles, but I will save that for another time, and even then I would not cover everything! It is very complex, just like any other science. Ayurveda takes the person as a whole to uncover ways in which you can live the best life.  It is one of the most ancient and natural ways of living. It takes into account Self-awareness as the foundation of good health. Instead of relying on a pill or a quick fix as a solution to be healthy, it gets to the root of a problem by addressing nutrition, lifestyle and habits, mindset, spirituality, meditation, yoga, herbal remedies, exercise, literally all of the things you do in your day to day life to help you feel and be who you were meant to be.  As I said it’s very complex, but it is fascinating! To me, almost any question can be answered by Ayurvedic teachings.  The learning never stops and I am currently enrolled in a year long course to be able to teach you all of the wonders that Ayurveda has to offer, but feel free to shoot me any questions you may have!

Herb of the Week: Peppermint

Peppermint has been a long time favorite of mine.  I grew up drinking it and using the essential oil on my temple for headaches. Peppermint has been around for many many years and even found in the Egyptian pyramids dating from around 1000 BCE, so when I say a long time, I mean a looooong time! The leaves are used in teas, and can also be distilled for their volatile oil and be used in various other ways like an essential oil, lotion, tincture, capsules, etc.  The oil has been shown to be strongly antibacterial and the menthol within it is antiseptic, anti fungal, and cooling to the skin.  That’s why it provides tremendous relief when applied to the skin if you suffer from headaches, migraines, or have other pain and inflammation on the skin.  Peppermint is also excellent for the digestive system.  It increases digestive juices and bile and relaxes the gut muscles.  I highly recommend it if you’re nauseas, cramping, feeling bloated, suffer from irritated or inflamed bowels, constipated or experiencing diarrhea.  No it will not solve the root of the problem you’re suffering from, but it may provide you with some relief. You can also use peppermint oil s an inhalant by diluting it and rubbing it on your chest for respiratory infections.  Pretty much another all around powerful herb! As you may know, part of my business is helping rep for Savvi.   I am only open to partnering with other brands that I truly love and have tried first hand. I have had my fair share of low quality clothing that didn’t make me feel confident. From teaching in a studio, working out or lounging around. My leggings were always see through! I even remember one time during teacher training we all went into a forward fold and I could see my whole rear end in the about embarrassing. Yoga & Final Thoughts

This week I will be recording another Virtual Vinyasa Class! I’ll update the link on my website so you can follow along at your leisure. It will be the same style of class, but a different flow, different playlist and different message. So be on the lookout for that, I’d love for you to all give it a try and let me know how you like it.  I’m also working on some recipes/ nutrition tips that I’m hoping to share soon. Life has definitely been a bit crazy and I’m slowly getting more tired heading into my third trimester, but I promise it’s on the way!

New Moon in Aries!

You guys! It’s one of my most favorite days of the month and is what I centered a lot of this business around...It’s the New Moon! This may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people, I mean what the heck is a new moon anyway right? Well to me it’s a very special day that comes around once a month.  I first learned about new moons from my Grandma Sandy.  She taught me about the astrology around it, but the biggest takeaway was that it’s a time to write down your hopes, dreams and wishes you want to see in your life, and send them off into the universe. Every month I would get a call or text to remind me to write down my wishes.  It was almost like a reboot where I could reflect on the past month and put forth more effort into the things I wanted in my life moving forward. Every ritual can look different and you can make it how you wish, but for me I always write down 10 hopes or intentions for the month ahead.  It really helps motivate me to be the best version of myself I can be! The new moon is the start of the lunar cycle and signifies new beginnings, hence why it is a great time to focus on the things you want most in your life.  It occurs when the moon is between Earth and the Sun, so the bright side of the moon is facing away from Earth making it the darkest night of the month

This new moon lies in Aries and is the first new moon of the astrological year, making it a very powerful time full of opportunities and new beginnings.  With all of this positive energy, it’s important to believe in yourself and understand that you hold the power in your hands for the life you wish.  In our new moon circle this month we talked a lot about the idea of blossoming. Some questions to consider when thinking about your own intentions are, What does blossoming mean to me? What type of energy do I want to attract this month? What type of things can I start adding into my day to manifest my goals? Dream Big! Nothing is too small. Step into your power and make it a great month!

Herb of the Week: Slippery Elm & Catnip

This week I actually wanted to talk a little bit about 2 herbs instead of just one.  I did a little poll on my Instagram to see which one you guys would rather hear about, and I received a pretty good interest in both!  So first let’s talk about Slippery Elm also known as Ulmus Rubra. This herb is one of my all time favorites, probably because I grew up drinking it.  It’s very sentimental to me and I absolutely love the taste.  It is slightly sweet, but very earthy as well since it comes from the inner bark of the slippery elm tree.  It’s a weird thing to imagine, but it almost does taste slippery as well!  This herb is native to the U.S. and Canada and thrives in high ground with dry soil.  The inner bark is collected to make powder, capsules, tablets, or in my case, for tea! The biggest benefit to this herb is that it is a gentle and effective remedy for irritated states of mucus membranes of the chest, stomach and intestines.  When it comes in contact with irritated or inflamed tissues, it soothes and literally coats the lining of the tissue to draw out toxins and protect it from further damage.  Pretty cool right?! If you suffer from chest congestion, cough, acidity in the stomach, diarrhea, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, really most any digestive discomfort, then I highly recommend incorporating slippery elm into your diet.  It also can act as a prebiotic and supports healthy bacterial growth in the gut.  When used externally it can help relieve inflammation, soothe burns and heal damaged tissue.  When mixed with other herbs such as cinnamon and ginger it makes the most delicious infusion. You can try for yourself with my Rooted Blend! It’s a mix of Honeyroo tea, Marshmallow Root, of course Slippery Elm, Chicory Root, Chaga Mushroom, Sweet Cinnamon Chips and Ginger Root. It is so nutrient dense and incredibly beneficial to your body.

Moving onto Catnip or Nepeta Cataria. To be honest with you, I always thought it was called catnip because of the effect it has on cats.  I never realized it was an actual herb safe for human consumption. I really thought it was a synthetic thing that you would just give to your cats haha...Wow I was so wrong! Catnip is native to Europe and naturalized in North America. The aerial parts of the plant (the parts exposed to the air) are used for tinctures, teas, etc. Surprisingly this herb has many benefits! It helps settle the stomach, reduces anxiety and nervousness, boosts mood, reduces fever and is suitable for colds and flus, even in children! Also opposite of the effect it has on cats, catnip has a sedative effect on humans providing deep relaxation and calmness. I thought that was fascinating considering how crazy our cat would get when she was around it!. It also has a pleasant taste and is included in my Zen AF blend to help you relax and unwind from your day.

Final Thoughts

This week starts my 3rd trimester of pregnancy! I can’t believe how fast it’s going, we will have our baby boy here in less than 3 months! Over this next month with the intention of blossoming in mind, I am so excited to keep growing into this new chapter of my life. Weekly Round Up!


As I am not religious, I still love this day because it’s an excuse to get together (safely of course) with the ones you love.  It’s supposed to be almost 80 today in Colorado, so I’m excited to hang outdoors with some family, maybe bbq, play with the dogs, should be a good day! I am definitely feeling a shift this past week with April.  It feels like the darkness of winter is slowly fading, and it’s time for a little more brightness and productivity.  Sometimes for me, I notice I get a little more down and unmotivated when its dark and cold.  So I’m really looking forward to the warm months ahead! More sun, more colors, more fresh foods and more time outdoors.  Not to mention prep for our little babe to get here! I can’t believe he will be here in just 3 short months. Craaazy! I hope you all have a day full of sunshine, laughter and an amazing week ahead! Now lets wrap up this last week with a few announcements and things you may have missed!

Herb of the Week: Lemon Balm

I LOOOOOVE Lemon Balm!  It is a delicious lemon scented herb that comes from the mint family.  It’s official name is, Melissa Officianalis.  Fun fact, it got its name from the Greek name Melissa, which means “Honeybee” since this plant tends to attract all the bees!  It originates from Southern Europe, Western Asia, and Northern Africa, however it is now grown all around the globe. It was traditionally used to lift the spirits and emotional wellbeing since its known to boost mood and cognitive function, but the benefits don’t stop there. It is also a first aid remedy and can be used for cuts, insect stings and good for fevers.  It also reduces anxiety, feelings of nervousness, panic and calm down a racing heart.  Even more it can also help with digestive issues, menstrual cramps, toothache, nausea...the list goes on.  Another super herb if you ask me!  I also use this herb in my Sunshine Blend.  It gives this uplifting concoction a slight lemony aroma and brings out the citrus flavors from the bitter orange peel and lemon peel. It’s a must try!

First Virtual Vinyasa Yoga Class is up and Ready!

I can’t believe it has been 1 full week of launching this business!

This past week since launch has totally flown by! I am so humbled with all the support Iv’e gotten and we are just getting started! There is so much I have in store and cannot wait to see how this whole thing grows.  With that said, I have my first virtual vinyasa yoga class up and ready for you all! It has been over a year now since Ive taught my last class.  Being virtual is definitely a bit different than being in a hot studio, but I could not be happier being able to teach yoga again.  I sure have missed it!  I’m really hoping that once things have settled down with the little babe after this summer, I can get back into the studio doing what I love, but for now I will be uploading videos here for all of you! Weekly round up, and Full Moon!

Happy Full Moon Sunday! Tonight the full moon lies in Libra, and is technically called the “full worm moon”.  The name comes from Native American folklore that signifies when there are more worms in the soil due to things growing and coming back to life in the northern hemisphere. This moon is all about bringing in more balance and compromise into your life.  If you have found yourself overly exhausted, or not taking care of yourself the past few weeks, its time to pause and take a breath! Try adding in more self care habits to your daily routine to create more balancing and harmony in your life. For me, this could not have come at a better time since I feel like some of my self care habits have gone out the window because my focus has been launching this business! Now that everything has settled down a bit I am so ready to take a moment for myself everyday to take a deep breath. I posted a reel to my instagram that ill link for some of my favorite things I add into my morning routine to make sure I’m taking care of me, and set myself up for a good day.  Check it out!

Now Let’s Talk Herbs! Each week I’ll feature an “herb of the week”, just to give you a little knowledge an insight as to why they are so beneficial to your health.  This week is all about Honey Bush Tea. This comes from the Cyclopia plant and is grown in South America. The tea itself is made from the leaves and got its name from the flowers of the cyclopia plant.  It smells similar to honey and is absolutely delicious.  It is similar to rooibos tea, it is smooth, fruity and naturally slightly sweet! I love it and that’s why I chose it as the base for my Sunshine Blend.  Not only is it delicious , but a major benefit from Honey Bush tea is that it is FILLED with antioxidants. This helps rid the body of free radicals and prevent disease while helping boost your immune system!  It also has anti-cancer properties and helps with aging since it boosts elasticity and hydration in the skin.  It has also been shown to reduce fat in the blood and help to reduce cholesterol! It’s basically a super plant!


Ok Switching gears a bit to SAVVI! It’s Launch Day!

Welcome to New Moon Holistics!

Holy moly, what a journey!  I want to officially welcome you to my business! It has taken me quite some time to get here, but I couldn’t be more excited to follow my dreams and grow this business that I have put so much time, energy and love into!

So what the heck is this business all about?

Well at the basic level I make and sell my own herbal tea blends, I teach virtual vinyasa yoga classes, I sell the best athleisure wear you can find and I will be providing nutrition offerings down the line (still in the works). However this business has SO much more to it.  New Moon Holistics is a full lifestyle and holistic wellness brand.  I will be dropping a lot of information about anything from Ayurvedic Wellness, daily routines, habits, the power of positive mindset, herbs, inspiration to recipes and more! I want this to be a place to empower you and your lifestyle and maybe find some inspiration along the way. Each week you can expect to see a blog post and a weekly newsletter.  You can subscribe at the bottom of the site! There are a few glitches on the website that I’m working through, so bare with me!
